Yògāsana Classes

Wednesdays: 6:15-7:30 p.m. Āsana using Chair as a prop

Thursdays: 6:00-7:15 p.m. Mixed

Fee: $20 (Please pay for a minimum of 10 classes in advance through Zelle or Venmo)

Bhagavad Gita Svadhyaya (free)

  • 10 – 11:30 a.m.
  • 1st and 3rd Friday
  • Repetitive Chanting to learn the verses
  • Recorded verses from the class are uploaded to a WhatsApp group to support daily practice.

Four Yogas – Svāmi Ādhiśvarānsnda

  • 2nd and 4th Friday
  • 10 – 11:30 a.m
  • Reading about the philosophy, message, practice and obstacles
  • Reflecting on the study of Karma, Bhakti, Jnāna and Rāja Yoga

Yoga Sutra Svadhyaya (free)

  • Fridays
  • 10 – 11:30 a.m.
  • Learning to chant each sutra
  • Reading and Reflecting on various translations of the sutras.

Āsana Class Descriptions

Beginners ( via private sessions only. Please email to schedule)


Beginner class focuses on identifying the abilities of the students in basic standing, balance and seated asanas, poses. Yoga props such as blocks, blankets, straps, chairs and the wall will be used to ease students into certain asanas. Props can always be discarded when poses are mastered.

Surya Namaskar, traditional sun salutation is taught by breaking down each asana, introducing safe transitions and then bringing them together in a vinyasa, sequence.

Students will also be introduced to fundamentals of Raja Yoga, in an introduction to yoga philosophy.

Class ends with relaxation in Shavasana and a short So Hum meditation. Basic breathing practices such as Dirgha Pranayama, 3-part breath and Nadi Shodhana, alternate nostril breath are also introduced either at the beginning or at the end.

Yoga with Chair as a prop

Chair Yoga is an adapted form of yoga that makes āsana accessible to everyone.  Chair Yoga offers a practice that includes seated poses on the chair and standing poses using the chair for balance and support. Chair Yoga allows students to modify their yoga practice based on flexibility, mobility, health, and current ability level.  Chair Yoga can be very gentle (for seniors) or more involved depending on location it is offered. (Senior Facility or Private Studio)

NOTE: The class offered here is for those who are limited with mat practice due to injuries, who would like to supplement their mat practice, and is not for seniors at this time.

Mixed Level


This class will be a combination of beginner and intermediate. It will give you an opportunity to hone the alignment skills in individual poses that were introduced to you in the beginner classes along with an opportunity to transition to more intermediate poses. Multiple variations with props will be provided to demonstrate the method to progress safely without causing any injuries.

Preparation for Pranayama and meditation will be introduced as well. Class ends with relaxation in Shavasana and a short So Hum meditation. Practice of Dirgha Pranayama, 3-part breath and Nadi Shodhana, alternate nostril breath will continue either at the beginning or at the end.

This class requires a background in asana practice and sun salutations, Surya Namaskar.

Students will be instructed in additional asanas within sun salutations as a vinyasa practice. Other balance, seated asanas along with inversions will be introduced.

Kapalabhati Kriya and Ujjaiyi Pranayama will also be introduced, in addition to practicing the breathing practices taught in the beginner class.

Yoga philosophy, i.e., concepts from the yogic text Yogasutras are incorporated within asana practice.

Pre Natal Yoga

Prenatal is class for all moms-to-be. Small groups or private. Please consult your Ob-Gyn and bring in a written authorization to begin pre and postnatal yoga.

There will be gentle variations on traditional yoga asanas that specifically benefit the needs of pregnant women. The poses will emphasize stability, flexibility and vitality. Yoga props will be utilized to maximize benefits within each pose. Appropriate breathing practices will also be introduced to focus the mind, relieve anxiety and induce calmness.

A wonderful way to prepare for birthing through breath, body and mind awareness.
